Ms. Katz is the President of The Vinca Group L.L.C. She has directed more than 1,000 market feasibility studies to develop, reposition, or conduct due diligence for the financing or acquiring entity for independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing facilities. Ms. Katz has also been responsible for structuring transactions and identifying acquisition opportunities. Ms. Katz assists facility’s managers to improve operating and financial performance on behalf of financial institutions and REITS. She has also developed successful pricing strategies and product development to secure multi-facility contracts. She was responsible for asset management of a 32 facility assisted living portfolio during the Alterra bankruptcy. Ms. Katz’s work with non performing skilled nursing and assisted living facilities for major health care lenders has resulted in the properties being refinanced or sold at substantial premiums. Ms. Katz is certified to conduct HUD LEAN studies.
Previously, Ms. Katz was the co-founder of Oakwood Living Centers, Inc. where she was the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. With Genesis Health Ventures, Inc., Ms. Katz was Vice President, Managed Operations.
Ms. Katz wrote the financial feasibility criteria for Federal Qualifications for HMOs and conducted a number of HMO feasibility studies. Ms. Katz served as the Project Manager for the study that evaluated the initial hospital prospective payment system and Medicare reimbursement for the Department of Health and Human Services.
Ms. Katz lectures frequently on various health care related topics. She developed and was a faculty member for the Managed Care Institute for the Assisted Living Federation of America. She has presented at the National Investment Conference and national meetings of the American Health Care Association, the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, the American College of Healthcare Executives, ALFA and at the Erickson School program in senior housing. Ms. Katz has a Bachelor of Science from The Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from Cornell University.

Ms. Heffernan has been conducting market research with The Vinca Group L.L.C. since 1995. Ms. Heffernan is responsible for conducting market and feasibility studies for skilled nursing, assisted living and independent living facilities and other health care services including managed care, adult daycare and supportive housing. Ms. Heffernan has extensive experience in defining market areas, analyzing demographic and payor mix data, conducting site visits and performing qualitative and quantitative assessments of long term care facilities and retirement communities. She has participated in The Vinca Group’s asset management and portfolio review engagements including reviewing facility operations, sales and marketing functions, staffing levels, regulatory compliance and the subject property’s product/value position compared to primary competitors.
In terms of specific projects, Ms. Heffernan has assisted in developing business opportunities for a major health insurance company to invest in the case management business. She developed strategic initiatives to enhance the performance of a large assisted living portfolio. She has developed and maintained physician databases intended to facilitate managed care contracting, and has evaluated the hospital conversion of acute care beds to a skilled nursing unit.

Ms. Alston joined The Vinca Group L.L.C. in September 2006. Ms. Alston conducts market research and assists in database management. She has experience in several areas of health care including: health care financing and accounting, skilled nursing, assisted living and independent living operations, as well as hospice care. Ms. Alston experience includes being the Admissions’ Coordinator for the skilled nursing and assisted living sections of an entrance fee CCRC that restricted its admissions to former military officers and their spouses. She also was responsible for third party reimbursement fee recovery audits.
Ms. Alston participates in all areas of market feasibility studies and facility reviews. Ms. Alston's analysis includes demographics, health service utilization, payor mix and reimbursement levels, competitive facility reviews including site visits, and demand estimates.
